"Allowed our production team to go DEEPER, FURTHER and HIGHER."
Jeremy Jones - Professional Snowboarder
The need for an Ultralight Camera Crane:
Our new lightweight jib was first tested by Chris Edmands and the Teton Gravity Research film crew for Jeremy Jones' new adventure snowboard film FURTHER.
Filming in the Austrian Alps.
The FEATHER Camera Crane's first adventure was a self-supported
winter trip deep into the Austrian Alps. The film crew pulled all of
their equipment for the two week adventure by sleds over 25 miles of
arduous terrain. The Feather Camera Crane proved it was worthy for this
grueling adventure and allowed cinematographer Chris Edmands to
drastically improve the production value of the documentary. Chris
returned to say this compact camera crane has found a permanent
spot in his travel bags.
On set in Wrangell, St. Elias Mountains of Alaska.
In April of 2012, Jones' crew was assembled for a month-long
expedition to snowboard the massive mountains and glaciated terrain of
the Wrangells. Cinematographer's Chris Edmands and Canyon Florey took
the compact ultralite camera crane to the extreme. The jib was used
to shoot from inside a Burchrund, and carried up an alpine ascent in
order to take this shot of Ryland from the top of the mountain.
Ryland Bell dropping in from the top of "K Tooth." This screen shot
from 1:55 is a unique shot because the camera crane was set up on top of
the mountain in order to get this amazing perspective of sending this
big mountain line. In order to get to the top, the film crew negotiated moderate alpine climbing and ice hazards. Wrangell St. Elias Mountains, Alaska.
